It is important to be aware of the colours that you wear when you present yourself to clients, your boss, coworkers or in the social environment. There is always a message behind the colour that you wear. In other words, it has a psychological affect on your client and how they are going to react to you.It is amazing what positive effect this will have on your mission in “dressing for success”.
- Business Colours – RED, BLUE, BLACK, WHITE, CREAM, PURPLE, GREEN, BEIDGE & DARK BROWNS (In the corporate and business world, be careful of revealing outfits and outfits that do not fit your body shape!)
- Fun & Feminine Colours – (Socialising musts – not for business and selling purposes) – PINK,YELLOW, PASTEL COLOURS, ORANGE & LIGHT BROWNS.
- Stay away from large prints on your blouses, shirts and jackets e.g. flowers, stripes and polka dots as this may distract client or coworkers from presentations and selling pitches.
- Wearing the right colours, patterns and lines for the right occasion, business meeting, interview, or presentation can form an important part of your success.
- Make sure that you are well-groomed – use perfume and some makeup, even if it is just a bit of lipgloss, foundation & face powder.
- Have fun! Mix and match your colours as this may “speak”of self-confidence and a positive self-esteem.
- Wear appropriate accessories like jewelry, scarves & shoes with your outfit (Do not wear “tekkies” or “flip flops”in a business or corporate environment).
- It is advisable to know your undertone e.g. is it cool or warm? Wearing a colour with the wrong undertone may make you look tired, old, fatter and form “shades”on your face that brings out blemishes and marks.
